Quite possibly the best thing ever if you are in to music. Soundcloud.com is a new up-and-comer in the music sharing (and discovering!) world. Music is one of the forms of media we take for granted. It has a message, it is broadcasted everywhere and people all over the world react differently to each unique piece. Everyone has something to say about music, why don’t you check it out?
You are also able to find out all about each person who has posted to the page as well as see all their posts from the past. Soundcloud also begins to reccomend some songs you may like as well! It’s like it gets to know you!
En Vogue
There are few magazines I reach for when checking out at the grocery store but no matter what, Vogue is always one of them. I think that perhaps Conde Nast (the owner company) has made it so that, from a young age, i felt as though I needed to look, live and breathe fashion. Or it was my mother who happens to be involved in that world immensely. Either way, I look at all the articles, read about what the gorgeous models are wearing this season and I find that it all becomes very ridiculous after a while. Or possibly after taking a class on media literacy. Every model is perfect, photoshopped, clothes are pinned, and hair has taken hours to do… You just don’t think about things like this as a child.
Anyway, after realizing this, i decided to count all the pictures of “white” women, or should I say more “non ethnic looking” as opposed to those whoa are clearly of different races. I stopped in the first 20 pages of the magazine. 32 White women, 2 of another decent. Shocking. I guess?
Heather Mills
…is apparently psychotic. She is now claiming that she is responsible for the Beatles music being available on iTunes. She tells Britains Daily Mail, “iTunes? I organized it all with Steve Jobs. But there’s no way I’m going back to court for more money. It was all settled at the time and that’s it.”
Oh right, because monetary issues are of no consequence for you… This is the same woman who stayed in court for more than a year demanding more money out of her ex-husband Paul McCartney.

So, there is this website called PostSecet.com that I read every single Sunday when it is updated. It started as an art project by a man named Frank by making a lot of postcards inviting people to decortate them, and send them in with their deepest darkest secrets on them. Anonymously of course! Anyway, this project became a phenomenon and now he receives thousands a day!!! They have created five books from these each unique pieces of artwork as well as presenting them to college students each time he speaks. I believe this is changing the world and I believe this is the one media outlet that is actually doing good for people while exposing their deepest secrets.
I invite you all to look at the website (or send in a secret!), you may discover some secrets you didn’t even know you had!
TRON
Recently I, as many of you have, found out that the DJ group Daft Punk was pulled out of retirement to do the soundtrack for Tron, the newest movie by Disney. Its created a lot of buzz, not only because the movies have big names, but because this group is so well known and the type of music they produce is becoming extremely popular. Disney is a powerhouse when anything having to do with manipulating the media and this is no different of a situation. They have sent out quite a few teasers such as the one below, of the movie and of the music that will be behind it. I am even excited about it and the storyline is not something i would ever consider seeing had it not been marketed so well!
Target Commercial
Once again perpetuating stereotypes… This target commercial is unbelievable when you think about it. It is supposed to be cute, funny and upbeat and make you want to shop at the two-day target sale, but could they be more obvious on their target audience? I mean really.
Racism unfortunately perpetuates itself due to all different kinds of media outlets. Also equally as sad, many Americans are very uneducated when it comes to politics. Most often we are swayed not by actual facts when voting for a leader, but those of our opinions of our friends, family, neighbors or even teachers. What we see on TV or the computer also sways us and could plant small ideas in our heads that continue the racism, fear and intolerance that continue around us.

Too Racy Because… Why?
Apparently this cover of GQ magazine has cause quite an uproar (surprise, surprise) but my question is why?
I realized a little bit later, after hearing about it a few times that they reason people were upset (or maybe offended?) was because these people are supposed to be in high school. UMM excuse me, since when are actors in TV shows EVER the age they are portrayed?? I mean really. I just think its completely insane that anyone would be upset over 20-something year olds posing on a cover for an adult magazine. When I say adult i just mean content-wise, GQ is aimed towards men between the ages of 30 and 70.
Lets be honest guys, people wear less on halloween. In Public.

Banned Commercials
What exactly is the point of banning commercials anymore? There’s youtube, frostwire, blogs, websites and any form of accessible media which will all show it and probably comment on it.
In this day and age, its completely ridiculous to censor any form of advertisement. Someone will bring it to the attention of the viewers that were originally meant to be shielded. For example. This commercial was probably banned from networks where teenagers and young adults were their primary viewers. I found this on a website that IS targeted for the exact same audience. Commenting on how ridiculous it was to have been censored in the first place.
